New Plum Trees

Two cherry plum trees were recently planted, adding to the diverse range of fruit trees already thriving in the orchard. Members helped to plant the trees, one of which will replace the Plum tree lost in one of last year’s storms.

New Life in the Orchard

Despite the start of the year remaining cold and wet, our trees in the Orchard are starting to come alive again. The nut trees are starting to produce catkins. If you are passing the Orchard. pop in to see the nut trees. A good reminder that Spring is on it’s way.

Storm Floris hits the Orchard!

We have all experienced some wild and windy weather over the last week when Storm Floris arrived last Monday and sadly one of our plum trees was blown down. The tree was covered with plums and would have provided a wonderful crop. Hopefully, since the tree was split from the main trunk rather than completely blown over, the plums may still ripen.

Blossom Time!

The fruit trees are now in full blossom. The whole orchard is a sea of pink and white. Why not have a wander up and indulge in some blossom bathing. The orchard is open every day dawn to dusk and all are welcome. Watch out for our Blossom Trail posters!

Walnut Trees and Jubilee Oaks

Several years ago we planted a walnut tree. This year there is a hint that we might have our first walnuts in the Autumn. We also have a special oak tree growing by the entrance to the Orchard. In 2012 trees were planted all around the UK as a way of celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. We received an oak tree which is now thriving. The oak tree is situated to the left of the entrance gate.

Blossom Time

Our fruit trees are now in full blossom and looking glorious in the May sunshine. Why not call in, chose a tree and take a few minutes to do some blossom bathing!
